The Agric Minister, Alh. @NanonoSabo earlier on Tuesday 21st, July 2020 delivered his keynote address at the e-conference organised by @OFABnigeria with the theme: Technological interventions in mitigating impacts of COVID-19 on Nigeria’s Food Security.
In his address, @NanonoSabo stated, that @NigeriaGov places a high priority on agriculture. Indeed, the determination of H.E @MBuhari to diversify the economy through agriculture is stronger than ever.
This is visible from the concrete steps taken to expand agricultural productivity and beneficiation across the country. Technology is critical in today’s world, and its relevance in agriculture is all the more crucial in preventing farmers’ crop losses to disease; enhancing market access; and the achievement of appropriate pricing for farm inputs, services and produce.
This is particularly important for smallholder farmers at this time as the vagaries brought on by the unavoidable movement restrictions imposed by the government at the onset of the pandemic have served to disrupt agric supply chains across the world.
The Minister thanked the conference organiser and concluded that the Agric Ministry, under his leadership will continue to support and engender investments in science and technology.
